The history of the Grans and Fassian families can be traced back continuously to the 16th century; the names were first documented in 1624 and 1658, respectively. Peter Grans and Magdalena Fassian founded the estate known today as Grans-Fassian – located on one of the Mosel’s most beautiful loops. Gerhard Grans carries on the families’ centuries-old tradition and cultivates vines in top sites. Add to this uncompromising practices in the vineyard (including selective harvesting) and cellar (slow fermentation, aging on the lees, each wine individually aged in stainless steel or oak casks), qualityoriented thinking and winemaking talent. The result: top-quality wines.
Vineyard Size and Grape Varieties:
Most of the estate’s 9.6 ha (23 acres) of vineyards are steep sites planted 88% with Riesling and 12% Weiss- and Grauburgunder (Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris).

The wines are typical of the Mosel: intensively fruity, sleek, elegant, aromatic and low in alcohol. Auslese and wines of higher ripeness levels also show great substance and tremendous depth.
