The Dr. Fisher wine estate lies at the foot of the famous hillside known as the ‘Bocksteinberg’.Documents show that ancestors of the family cultivated vines here as early as 1758. Today, Karin Fischer is in charge of operations.
Vineyard Size and Grape Varieties:
The estate owns ca. 14 ha (35 acres) of wines, 98% of which are Riesling and 2% Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc).
Ockfener Bockstein; Wawerner Herrenberger.
Aged exclusively in wooden casks, the wines are remarkable for their effervescent freshness, good substance and aromatic fragrance. The fine acidity of Saar wines, particularly those that are dry or off-dry, need sufficient time to develop. As such, it is a good idea to purchase them while young, let them mature for a couple of years – then they are ready to be enjoyed with pleasure.
